Covid-19 - Information for our Tenants

Dear Tenant,

We would like to take this opportunity to pass our best regards & wishes during this difficult time for all. As your managing agent, we want to ensure that we are able to help you through these uncertain times, so would like to address a few issues which may be on your mind. We believe if we all help, support and be understanding to each other, we will get through these tough times.

Following the advice from the Government concerning the Covid-19 pandemic, and as a responsible Employer, I have made the decision that as of 23rd March 2020, my team will be working from home until we are advised otherwise. I have had to implement some changes to ensure continuity of the service you have become accustomed to. As this is unchartered territory, changes may have to be made as the situation unfolds over the next few weeks & months ahead

We will still be available throughout the day, and can be contacted through the following means:

Mahbub Shah – 07447 402 612 – Mahbub@key2keyproperties.com

Al-Fahid Alom – 0795 411 0072 –Alfahid@key2keyproperties.com

Habiba Jahan – Habiba@key2keyproperties.com

Self Isolation

In the unfortunate situation where you or a member of your family/ household find yourself to become unwell, and make the decision to Self-Isolate, please inform us as soon as possible. If you are in a position where you are short of food/, medical supplies or any other necessity and have not got outside support from friends and/or family, please let us know and we will endeavour to help you to the best of our abilities. Informing us of isolation will also allow us to keep contractors and our staff safe, and we will ensure that any visits or maintenance we have booked can be rearranged.

Maintenance – if things go wrong

We politely ask that you are patient and ask for your understanding as we are working in unprecedented conditions and the availability of contractors may be minimal if they become ill & have to self -isolate. You may become ill and the Contractor may not want to enter your home, or you may not feel comfortable with our contractor coming into your home.

In short, we want to prepare you for there to be delays, in some cases, even jobs that are urgent may not be attended to as quickly as we would hope or normally expect. We will do our utmost to get the jobs you are reporting attended to as quickly as possible but there are going to be inevitable delays due to circumstances out of our hands. Minor issues will not be dealt with as a matter or priority

If you smell gas & suspect you have a leak you should call the gas emergency service on 0800 111999. We believe that the Government will give Gas safe engineers ‘Key Worker’ status, so if there was to be a lockdown, in an event of an emergency, we should still be able to send out an engineer as soon as practically possible.

Rent payments

We expect you to pay your rent as normal, but we are also prepared for some Tenants to ask for time to pay as a result of Covid-19.

Please remember that your rent is a priority payment and we do not recommend that you miss payments as it could result in you losing your home if you make false claims of hardship.

The government has put many measures in place to ensure all businesses, self-employed workers, and employees will not be left financially struggling, including the government paying 80% of workers payroll to ensure that they are not left without a job. More advice can be found here:

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-employers-and-businesses-about-covid-19

If you are already experiencing hardship, the Government has also announced that they will fast-track Universal Credit / Housing Benefit claims, in order for you to receive funds as soon as possible. You will be able to claim here:

https://www.gov.uk/apply-universal-credit

If you still feel that you may struggle with your rent payment, please inform us as soon as possible.

I am adapting our way of working to ensure the safety of my team, their families and for the safety of you and your families and that of our contractors who have become part of our working family.

During these difficult times, I believe with help, support and understanding, we will all get through this.

Business will continue as normally as it can in these unprecedented times, and I would like to thank you in advance for your understanding.

With best wishes,

Mahbub Shah

Managing Director
